When leading during a crisis, fear runs high and uncertainty abounds. Leading with empathy is even more vital to intrinsically motivate and inspire others and peers towards the common vision and goals (Warrell, 2020). Incorporating empathy as part of the influential decision-making process allows leaders to effectively scan, identify, predict, decide and execute decisions while staying gounded. In this course, participants will learn the steps of influential decision-making, meta-leadership for leading in complex situations, and to reflect on personal mindful self-care practices to implement in the workplace. 

Decision Making

By the end of the lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the steps in the SIP-DE decision making model.
  2. Define the 40-70 rule for decision making. 
  3. List three strategies for communicating decisions. 

Meta-Leadership
By the end of the lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the commonalities between adaptive leadership and meta-leadership. 
  2. Explain the importance of self-awareness, self-knowledge, and self-regulation.
  3. Explain the important characteristics for leading in complex situations. 
  4. Describe how to lead up, down, across, and beyond.

Mindful Self-Care

By the end of the lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. Reflect on personal mindful self-care practices in a work environment. 
  2. Identification of self-awareness, self-knowledge, and self-regulation practices.
  3. Apply strategies for influencing motivation during sustained crisis.
